Owning up, telling the truth, being sorry are traits that Michael Vick’s fans would equate with weakness. Donte Stallworth doesn’t have the vicious cruelty that the Vick posse loves so much. I can’t help but feel for Donte Stallworth. It’s an awful thing that happened and he is responsible, but then, I’ve driven drunk too and it’s just a stroke of luck that I didn’t do the same thing. And unfortunately I’m not certain that I would have stood up in the way that Donte Stallworth has. That takes real guts. This is not a character trait that would be admired by Vick fans. These people are AOK with a guy who tortures dogs for fun. They admire that kind of thing. That’s just how they are. They can’t SAY so. Bla bla bla, second chance, fogiveness, etc.

What concerns me is an operation like CBS. I mean, Michael Vick lied to anyone who would listen about the fighting and the torturing and the killing. Only when confronted with irrefutable and damning evidence did he admit to his crimes. And yet, in these interviews with Michael Vick, CBS News 60 Minutes unequivocally takes him at his word. How can this be?

Michael Vick viciously tortured and killed defenseless animals. CBS News 60 Minutes knows the facts. But they worked with him to dodge the issue of his participation, “Oh, JB, I didn’t step up. I wasn’t a leader.” And the pictures of the dogs looked like kennel club shots, instead of the hideous images that tell the real truth of the fighting and the torturing and the killing. Why did a CBS news team do this?

I think it is of very little use to ask Michael Vick about his ethics or his reasoning or his motives. But, why did CBS News so eagerly partner with him and his handlers in their efforts to restore his reputation?
